Went to Perkins for breakfast this morning. There've been a lot of news reporters around town the past few days (I live in Bemidji, MN, nearest town to the Red Lake school shooting), so I didn't doubt I might see some reporters, but I had to keep staring at the group of three guys in the corner 'cause one of them looked familiar. It was Gideon!
Anyway, my friend and I stopped by his table on the way out and talked to him for a few minutes. He's actually QUITE nice, very friendly, and was thrilled to know that we watched his special on Iraq (I'm a huge fan of his work, and am going into journalism correspondence myself). He asked us a few questions about the college, Red Lake, and the native american population here, chatted for a bit, and we said goodbye (=
I gotta say.. man, he's cuter in real life, especially with stubble/glasses. His right wrist was in a cast, though, so it was awkward shaking his hand.
